Last updated on OCTOBER 17, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Database Cloud Service - Version N/A and later
Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.0.6 to 11.2.0.4 [Release 11.1 to 11.2]
Oracle Database Cloud Schema Service - Version N/A and later
Oracle Database Exadata Express Cloud Service - Version N/A and later
Gen 1 Exadata Cloud at Customer (Oracle Exadata Database Cloud Machine) - Version N/A and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

While using DBCA to create a new database, you try to enter an ACFS filesystem (for example, /u03) for the Fast Recovery Area (FRA), but it doesn't accept it.  Instead it gives you the message "Selected location "/u03" is on ASM Cluster File System (ACFS). ACFS location is not allowed as shared storage for cluster database. You should specify an ASM diskgroup or any other supported shared storage location."

The ACFS is set up correctly.

Note: In versions < 11.2.0.3.2 Grid Infrastructure Patch Set Update (GI PSU), you may see errors PRCR-1006, PRCD-1094, or PRCT-1129 instead of the message above.  This is because of Bug 12594616 : AN ERROR OCCUR WHEN CHOOSE ACFS TO STORE THE DATAFILES DURING DBCA.
