Symptoms

Oracle Secure Enterprise Search installation fails during the "Repository Creation Utility" step.

INFO: oracle.search.appliance:About to execute plug-in RCU
INFO: oracle.search.appliance:The plug-in RCU is running
INFO: oracle.search.appliance:Internal PlugIn Class: oracle.install.config.search.SchemaConfigAssistant
INFO: oracle.search.appliance:Classpath = <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\Oracle_SES1\install\jlib\cfgses.jar;<MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\Oracle_SES1\inventory\Scripts\ext\jlib\instses.jar
INFO: oracle.search.appliance:The plug-in RCU has failed its perform method

  

The installAction log file will have references to other log that contain additional details.

INFO: RCU Logfile : <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\cfgtoollogs\rcu\logdir.<timestamp>\rcu.log

INFO: Metadata Services Failed <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\cfgtoollogs\rcu\logdir.<timestamp>\mds.log

INFO: Enterprise Scheduler Service Failed <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\cfgtoollogs\rcu\logdir.<timestamp\ess.log

The mds and ess logs will have an error like this one,

ERROR rcu: oracle.sysman.assistants.rcu.backend.action.AbstractAction::handleNonIgnorableError: Received Non-Ignorable Error: ORA-00922: missing or invalid option
