Symptoms
Using Database Gayeway for Informix (Dg4Infmx) 11.1.0.6 on HP-UX PA-RISC 11.23 a connections fails with the following error -
SQL> select count(*) from user_objects@dblink;
select count(*) from user_objects@dblink
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28545: error diagnosed by Net8 when connecting to an agent
Unable to retrieve text of NETWORK/NCR message 65535
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from DBLINK
select count(*) from user_objects@dblink
*
ERROR at line 1:

Running the executable from the command line gives the error -
tg4ifmx> ./dg4ifmx

Abort(coredump)
