Symptoms
Following the creation of a new service using the SRVCTL utility, SQL*Plus connections to that service fail.
srvctl add service -d mydb -s mydb_failover_service -r mydb11,mydb12 -P BASIC -m BASIC -B SERVICE_TIME -q TRUE -e SELECT
Note the service name includes the word 'failover': mydb_failover_service
Attempts to connect to this service using SQL*Plus yield the following error:
Changes
No changes. This is a newly created RAC service.
