Last updated on AUGUST 03, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle SQL Connector for Hadoop Distributed File System - Version 2.3.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Purpose

This document provides instructions on how to download, install and setup Oracle SQL Connector 3.* for Hadoop Distributed File System (OSCH) on the machine where Oracle database resides and also on Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) for Hive table access.

Note:- On Oracle Big Data Appliance(BDA) X3-2/V2.*/V3.*, if Connectors are licensed and selected to be installed, then mammoth will install Oracle SQL Connector for HDFS on all nodes in /opt/oracle/orahdfs-3.0.* directory for Hive table access. Thus if using BDA  X3-2/V2.* you can skip installing OSCH on BDA and just install on database machine.

Oracle SQL Connector for Hadoop Distributed File System was formerly known as Oracle Direct Connector for Hadoop Distributed File System.

Oracle SQL Connector for HDFS enables Oracle Database to access data stored in a Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS). The data can remain in HDFS or it can be loaded into Oracle Database.
