Symptoms
Getting "ORA-1017: invalid username/password; logon denied" when running a Pro*Cobol program from a 12c Oracle home. The same program when run from an 11g home works.
Changes
Any of:
- A working Pro*Cobol program was upgraded from 11g to 12c. After rebuilding the program, it fails to connect to the database at runtime.
- A Pro*Cobol program that was built and worked under an 11g Oracle home is run from a 12.1.0.1 Oracle home without rebuilding. It fails to connect to the database when run from the 12c home.
- A new Pro*Cobol program, built under a 12c Oracle home, using the correct username and password, fails to connect to the database at runtime.
