Symptoms

Running an Oozie job from the command line or Oozie workflow fails with the following error:

2015-05-06 14:13:11,851 WARN org.apache.oozie.command.wf.ActionStartXCommand: SERVER[<HOSTNAME4>.<DOMAIN>] USER[*] GROUP[-] TOKEN[] APP[<APPNAME>] JOB[<ID>-oozie-oozi-W] ACTION[<ID>oozie-oozi-W@<APPNAME>] Error starting action [<APPNAME>]. ErrorType [TRANSIENT], ErrorCode [JA009], Message [JA009: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target]
