EM12c: "Oracle Home does not exist" Error Converting Standalone Database to Cluster Database in Exadata VM (Doc ID 2067442.1)

12c EM Cloud Control running against an Exadata Virtualized Rack target. 

There is a single instance database running on vm node dbadm01vm01 that needs to be converted to a Real Applications Cluster (RAC) database running on vm nodes dbadm01vm01 and dbadm02vm01.

Convert single instance database to RAC process in EM12c is failing with the following popup error:

      Oracle Home location "/u01/app/oracle/product/" does not exist on target ""

The home obviously does exist as the single instance database is currently up and running.

Testing the underlying rconfig utility on vm host dbadm01vm01, a different error is generated - from the rconfig log file:
