Symptoms

Data Pump import into a 12c database fails with errors:

ORA-39083: Object type USER:"<SCHEMANAME>" failed to create with error:
ORA-65096: invalid common user or role name

 Oracle Database 12c introduced the multitenant option, allowing multiple pluggable databases (PDBs) to reside in a single container database (CDB).
