Symptoms
We have configured disk groups using ASM Normal redundancy on 2 Netapp storage units. There are 3 fail groups in SYSTEMDG disk group and 2 fail groups in DATA disk group. Sector size of SYSTEMDG disks are all 512 where as DATA disk group was created with 4k sector size. Physical as well as Logical Sector size of disks in Netapp storage is 512.
One of the disks which is a member of DATA disk group with 4k sector size got off-lined due to a transient disk error. Once the disk that was off-lined was brought online the disk header size got changed to 512. Now if the DATA disk group is dismounted we will not be able to mount the disk because of the sector size mismatch on this disk.
