Symptoms
- Normally statistics gathering operations are performed during no-workload / less workload hours. But there are databases those are always busy especially on some of the tables throughout the day with different patterns of workload upon it.
Gathering statistics (or other DBMS_STATS operation to update stats) upon those busy tables are a challenge sometimes,as there are cases where statistics gathering operation during high concurrent workloads based on specific pattern of access could create a hang situation with 'library cache lock' for a duration of the KGL timeout period(default 15 minutes) before failing with ORA-4021
Changes
Specific workload pattern and concurrency.
