Step 7 of Mammoth Upgrade to 4.10 Fails with "Failed to deploy client configuration to the cluster" (Doc ID 2349418.1)

Symptoms

The symptoms are:


1. Step 7 of Mammoth upgrade to v4.10 fails with:

ERROR: Operation failed
ERROR: Result Message is: Failed to deploy client configuration to the cluster.
ERROR: Errors getting client configuration files from the cluster
ERROR: Cannot continue with operation
....

2. In Cloudera Manager (CM) it is not possible to manually deploy client configuration.  Manually deploying the client configuration fails with:

In addspark2.out from node 1 shows:

Operation failed
Result Message is: "Deploy Client Configuration failed.",
API Version used is v17
Succeeded. Output in : /opt/oracle/BDAMammoth/bdaconfig/tmp/clusters_<cluster name>_services_hdfs_commands_restart.out

 

3. Navigating in CM > All Recent Commands  shows that the Spark 2 History Server fails to start.
