Symptoms

RMAN create catalog fails with error

RMAN> create catalog;

error creating dbms_catowner
ORACLE error from recovery catalog database: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-01502: index 'SYS.I_SOURCE1' or partition of such index is in unusable state

RMAN-06433: error installing recovery catalog
