How to Download and Install a BDA RPM Patch and Rollback Back to the Original BDA RPM
(Doc ID 2379782.1)
Last updated on AUGUST 06, 2022
Applies to:
Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 4.4.0 and later Linux x86-64
Purpose
This note provides the instructions for downloading and installing a bda rpm patch and for rolling back to the original rpm that was installed on the cluster with Mammoth.
It uses an example of downloading/installing/rollling back the bda 4.10.0-4 rpm on a BDA V4.10 cluster. However the steps apply generally to any bda rpm patch.
If a BDA cluster has a base image with the same bda major/minor version as a bda rpm patch then apply the bda rpm patches to pick up the latest updates for the base image. In such cases, follow the steps in this document.
Using the example here if the cluster has a major/minor base image of 4.10.0-<x> then follow the steps here to update the bda rpm to 4.10.0-<x+n>.
If the installed base image major/minor version is less than that in a bda rpm patch it can not be installed as described here. In the case of new installs where the installed base image is older than that is a bda rpm or for reprovisioning existing installations where it is desired to wipe the existing cluster to install a new one see the associated patch to reimage the cluster as listed in the Oracle Big Data Appliance Patch Set Primary Note (Doc ID 1485745.1). For the example of 4.10 that would be Oracle Big Data Appliance Base Image Version 4.10.0 for New Installations or Reprovisioning Existing Installations on Oracle Linux 6 (Doc ID 2364648.1).
This note also contains a section, "Installing Patch 29154804", for installing the cumulative patch 29154804.
