Symptoms

High "latch free" waits are observed for database after upgrading to 12c.
Since "latch free" is a big umbrella wait, narrowing down further shows "Real-time descriptor latch" as the main culprit.

Changes

 After upgrade to 12.1.0.1 onwards.
