Symptoms
Mammoth cluster expansion fails at the Step 4, PrepareBaseImage, with:

ERROR: Puppet agent run on node <HOSTNAMEx> had errors. List of errors follows
ERROR: Puppet agent run on node <HOSTNAMEx> had errors. List of errors follows
Checking the puppet agent log: pagent-<HOSTNAMEx>-<timestamp>.log shows errors like:
<timestamp> <HOSTNAME1> puppet-master[10108]: (//<HOSTNAMEx>.<DOMAIN>//Stage[main]/Miscsetup::Mount_dirs/Augeas[resolv]) Could not evaluate: Error sending command 'insert' with params ["nameserver", "before", "/files/etc/resolv.conf/nameserver[1]"]/Error sending command 'insert' with params ["nameserver", "before", "/files/etc/resolv.conf/nameserver[1]"]
Checking the output from:
shows that the /etc/resolv.conf files on the newly expanded hosts are empty.
