Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Enterprise Manager (EM) users attempting to configure a database to send backups to a Recovery Appliance from the Backup Settings page may encounter the following error:

Since this database has been configured outside of Backup Settings to send backups to a Recovery Appliance, the Recovery Appliance and virtual private catalog user settings cannot be determined.

Recovery Catalog Settings - To make Enterprise Manager aware of the Recovery Appliance settings, go to Recovery Catalog Settings, select 'Use Recovery Catalog', then select the virtual private catalog that corresponds to the Recovery Appliance.

If the recovery catalog list does not contain the Recovery Appliance virtual private catalog, it must be added as a managed catalog. On the Recovery Catalogs page, select the base catalog that corresponds to the Recovery Appliance, click Manage Virtual Private Catalogs, then select 'Manage an existing virtual private catalog with Enterprise Manager'.
