rootupgrade.sh Fails on Node 1 When Multiple HAIP Addresses are Used (Doc ID 2571289.1)

When running GI for a cluster from 12.1.0.2 to 18c on a Solaris system having multiple HAIP addresses, rootupgrade.sh fails on the first node.

The rootcrs_<hostname_date>.trc at $GRID_BASE/crsdata/<hostname>/crsconfig shows ASM failing to start as part of the upgrade:
