Purpose
This document describes transitional support for Grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.4 on Exadata systems running Oracle Linux 7, such as Exadata System Software 20.x and 19.x.
Previously a system running Grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.4 required Exadata running Oracle Linux 6 (Exadata versions 12.x or 18.x). Grid Infrastructure upgrade from 11.2.0.4 to Long Term Support Release 19 required a three-step upgrade path:
- Upgrade Grid Infrastructure from 11.2.0.4 to 12.1.0.2, or 12.2.0.1, or 18.
- Upgrade Exadata System Software to a release running Oracle Linux 7 (e.g. 20.x or 19.x).
- Upgrade Grid Infrastructure to 19.
Transitional support of Grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.4 on Exadata systems running Oracle Linux 7 is added to enable Grid Infrastructure upgrade from 11.2.0.4 directly to Long Term Support Release 19, thus eliminating the requirement to first upgrade Grid Infrastructure to an intermediate release.
