ORA-27192 ORA-19511 ORA-19504 ORA-27040 when trying to create a standby database through RMAN (Doc ID 272325.1)

For the purposes of this document, the following fictitious environment is used as an example
to describe the procedure:

Database/Instance Name  = TT1
Directory = /global/u02/app/oracle and all subdirectories

Creating a standby database through RMAN and fails with the following errorstack:

RMAN-03015: error occurred in stored script Memory Script
ORA-27192: skgfcls: sbtclose2 returned error - failed to close file
ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:Failed to process backup file.
ORA-19504: failed to create file "/global/u02/app/oracle/admin/TT1/TT11/controlfiles/control01.ora,
/global/u02/app/oracle/admin/TT1/TT11/controlfiles/control02.ora"
ORA-27040: skgfrcre: create error, unable to create file
SVR4 Error: 2: No such file or directory

The directory for the controlfile exists with proper permissions and also the control file with the same name are not there in the specified directory.
