Symptoms

On : Oracle Linux 7.0 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel [3.8.13] version, Linux Kernel

Host_access_control is not allowing the use of special characters for grub password setting.

 

Here is the error message when we use host_access_control grub-password.

 

 export EXADATA_GRUB_PASSWORD='WelcomeS1$'

/opt/oracle.cellos/host_access_control grub-password -p EXADATA_GRUB_PASSWORD


[2020-10-05 20:17:44 +0530] [WARNING] [IMG-SEC-0014] Password entry error. Valid GRUB passwords are 8 to 16 alphanumeric characters.
