Symptoms

One or both of the NameNodes fails to start. An error like below is raised:

<TIMESTAMP> WARN org.apache.hadoop.util.JvmPauseMonitor: Detected pause in JVM or host machine (eg GC): pause of approximately <BIG_NUMBER>ms
GC pool 'ConcurrentMarkSweep' had collection(s): count=1 time=<BIG_NUMBER>ms
