RDBPROD: Configuration example to use accents between Oracle Rdbms and Oracle Rdb through SQLNET (Doc ID 277616.1)

Last updated on APRIL 16, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle SQL/Services for Rdb on OpenVMS - Version 7.1.5 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Provide a way to enter data in an Oracle Rdb database from Oracle clients running on different platforms. This data can contain characters with accents.

The notion of character set (as it exists in Oracle) is not the same in Oracle Rdb.

OCI Services for Rdb will display the character set in Oracle Rdb as US7ASCII.

It is important to verify each type of client (Windows, OpenVMS, UNIX...) to ensure the characters are correctly translated to Rdb and can be read by all clients.
