Symptoms

While saving data in to Oracle DB from R programming, special characters are changed to BOM character.

Description:
We are trying to store TÃO using sqlSave of R programming to Oracle table. Col is defined as NVARCHAR. However, the data is stored as TÃO.
R is reading the data properly and forming the query correctly but while saving this issue is seen.
We have checked the encoding in both Oracle and R and it is set to UTF-8.
