Database Upgrade: Script to identify and convert 4-band JPEG compressed SDO_GEORASTER object (Doc ID 2960620.1)

Information in this document applies to any platform.
Oracle Spatial GeoRaster used to support JPEG compression on 1-band, 3-band and 4-band raster blocks. Starting with Oracle release 23c, JPEG compression is only supported on 1-band and 3-band raster blocks. Thus any 4-band JPEG compressed GeoRaster object needs to be either decompressed or re-blocked to 1-band raster blocks before upgrading to Oracle Database 23c.


Starting in 23c, GeoRaster objects with 4-band JPEG compression is desupported.

This note provides the instructions to identify the 4-band JPEG compressed GeoRaster object and to accomplish the conversion from 4-band JPEG compressed GeoRaster object to uncompressed GeoRaster object or 1-band JPEG compressed GeoRaster object object in Oracle Database 19c and 21c. Follow the steps described below:
