Delete Archivelog Hangs for Archivelog not Physically on Disk (Doc ID 2967260.1)

Symptoms

Archive log backup entry is not getting deleted even though it does not exist physically on the server. 

The Delete Command hangs when trying to delete the backupset asssociated with the archivelog .
