Symptoms
When starting the database, the following errors are returned:
SQL> startup
ORACLE instance started.
ORA-24324: service handle not initialized
ORA-24323: value not allowed
ORA-01041: internal error. hostdef extension doesn't exist
OR
SQL> startup
ORACLE instance started.
ORA-24324: service handle not initialized
ORA-24323: value not allowed
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
Changes
You may have recently mounted a disk with a volume name that is the same as the database
instance name (SID).
Or, someone has recently defined a logical that is the same as the database instance name.
