Information in this document applies to any platform.
This problem can occur on any platform.
Symptoms
Oracle server with multiple version Oracle database installations (e.g. 8i, 9i, 10g).
Customer is using the highest version client installation to connect to all database installations. Local BEQUEATH protocol is used (e.g. in order to achieve local OS authentication.)
Changes
Direct BEQUEATH connections between different databases fail with TNS-12545 or ORA-12557.
Attempting to adapt the ORACLE_HOME for the destination database installation before calling the client tool (e.g. sqlplus) will result in SP2-0152 errors in the sqlplus tool.
