catupgrd.sql fails with ora-03113 and ORA-06576 when upgrading from 9.2.0.X to 10.2.0.X (Doc ID 391793.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to upgrade from 9.2.0.X to 10.2.0.X by running catupgrd.sql script, the upgrade fails half way through. with
the following errors:

-- client side

ERROR
call dbms_xdb.CleanSGAForUpgrade()
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-06576: not a valid function or procedure name
System altered.

DECLARE
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

-- server side

ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments:[qmtb_init_len]

Changes

The pre-upgrade check  shows problems related to the XDB installation : many invalid objects
