RDBPROD: Poor Performance for Delete from a Table (Doc ID 405122.1)

Symptoms

A delete of a record in a specific table is taking a very long time.  Inserts and updates occur very quickly.  SELECT on the rows that fit the criteria for the DELETE also return the results very quickly. 

The table in question does have SORTED indexes, some of which have DUPLICATES ALLOWED.
