When Creating Services Using ORADIM With Autostart Option, Their Startup Type Becomes Manual
(Doc ID 412444.1)
Last updated on FEBRUARY 02, 2022
Applies to:
Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 10.1.0.2 and laterMicrosoft Windows (32-bit)
Generic Windows
Goal
After installing Oracle database 10g, the Oracle service was created using oradim. However, the service's startup type becomes 'manual' even though oradim specifies 'auto'.
This is how oradim is executed:
The registry entry ORA_CTY1_AUTOSTART (for the instance startup) is correctly set to TRUE. The Oracle service is started. But after re-booting, the service does not start automatically, due to the wrong service startup type which becomes manual.
Same is true when changing the service's startup mode to 'automatic'.
The problem does not exist on 9.2.0.8 as oradim correctly sets the startup type of the instance service to 'auto'.
