Applies to:

Oracle Rdb Server on OpenVMS - Version 7.0 and later

The following was done:

  1. RMU/BACKUP under 7.0
  3. Disable AIJ
  4. Drop AIJ and add them again
  5. Enable AIJ

$ rmu/backup/after/log pps_db "" /SEQUENCE=(44530)
%RMU-I-OPERNOTIFY, system operator notification: AIJ manual backup operation failed
%RMU-F-AIJBCKHARD, after-image journals cannot be backed up due to unrecoverable data loss
%RMU-F-FTL_BCK, Fatal error for BACKUP operation at 15-FEB-2007 12:36:22.10

A warning message is also generated if only steps 3 and 5 are taken and an RMU backup of the AIJ is then attempted:

$ rmu/backup/after/log sql$database ""
%RMU-W-DATACMIT, unjournaled changes made; database may not be recoverable
