Db Hangs Because Archive Logs Get Not Deleted Although Enough Reclaimable Space (Doc ID 434049.1)

Symptoms

Database hangs during archiving with following error messages in alertfile, although there is enough reclaimable space in the flash recovery area:

Errors in file /oracle/admin/<dbname>/bdump/dwhe2_rvwr_221590.trc:
ORA-19816: WARNING: Files may exist in db_recovery_file_dest that are not known to database.
ORA-38701: Flashback database log 685 seq 5891 thread 2: "+DATA_FRA"
ORA-17502: ksfdcre:4 Failed to create file +DATA_FRA
ORA-15041: diskgroup space exhausted

WARNING: A file of type FLASH BACK may exist in
db_recovery_file_dest that is not known to the database.
Use the RMAN command CATALOG RECOVERY AREA to re-catalog
any such files. This is most likely the result of a crash
during file creation.

ORA-19504: failed to create file "+DATA_FRA"
