Invalid OLAP Objects When Upgrading An Oracle 10.2.0.1 Installation, without OLAP, to 10.2.0.2 and Higher (Doc ID 455839.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 22, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle OLAP - Version 10.2.0.1 to 12.1.0.2 [Release 10.2 to 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When the Oracle software is installed, without the Oracle OLAP option being installed (by default not included in the Standard Edition), and a database instance is created using dbca or created at the time of the software installation, the Oracle OLAP components are also included.

The inclusion of the Oracle OLAP components is due to these being included in the database templates that are used to create the database.

When this installation and database instances are upgraded to newer versions, the Oracle OLAP components, along with other optional components, are marked as OPTION OFF.  After the post install steps are completed, there are about 54 INVALID OLAP related objects.

Changes

Upgrade Oracle software and database to 10.2.0.2 or higher.
