Creating a tnsnames.ora File From OID Entries (Doc ID 580423.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 10, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Net Services - Version 9.2.0.8.0 to 11.1.0.6.0 [Release 9.2 to 11.1]
Generic UNIX

Goal

Two commands can be run to generate a tnsnames.ora file from data stored from within OID.
The first command is an ldapsearch command, and the second is a long string of Unix sed commands

If the commands are run on the same host as OID, the commands can be run by simply cutting/pasting them into a terminal window.

If the commands are run remotely, refer to the ldapsearch syntax (in the OID Admin Guide) to specify remote host and port flags.

There are some restrictions which will be itemized at the end of this document.
