When using the Common Dictionary Operator (CDO) facility to define a record definition using the DEFINE RECORD or CHANGE RECORD commands, each VARIANT clause described in the record must have an associated structure clause defined for each variant if the record structure is to be successfully used by DATATRIEVE.

If a CDO record definition is accessed using DATATRIEVE, and the record contains a VARIANT clause without a structure clause, the following error will be returned:
