Using Oracle10gR1 ODBC Driver or Higher Against Oracle10gR1 RDBMS or Higher Selecting NUMBER Ends Up in Truncation of Decimal Places or Return of NAN (Not a Number)

Using ODBC driver or higher inside an application connected to RDBMS 10gR1 ( or higher and performing 

select 0.5 from dual

returns "NAN" (Not a number)


select 1.5 from dual

ends up in some sort of "truncation" of decimal places. 1.0 instead 1.5 is returned

Connecting to RDBMS 9iR2 (9.2.0.X) or lower problem does not reproduce
