Last updated on FEBRUARY 20, 2023
Applies to:
Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 10.2.0.3 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
This problem can occur on any platform.
Symptoms
CDC or Streams Apply process returns error ORA-1483 "invalid length for DATE or NUMBER bind".
The tables being inserted into, have no LOB columns (if they do, refer to <Note.748941.1>).
Flushing the SQL Shared Pool alleviates the problem:
However, after flushing the SQL Shared Pool and re-starting the Apply process, it may take only a fraction of a second for the problem to be back. For example, the Apply process will successfully insert one row and then, on the next row, it will abort again with the same error ORA-1483.
Changes
This problem may start occurring after an upgrade of the database from an earlier release to 10.2.0.3.
