ORA-27102: Out Of Memory And SVR4 Error: 22: Invalid argument During Startup On Solaris10 Server With Multiple DB Instances

Symptoms

The following error is reported while starting up the database on Solaris 10:

 

SQL> startup
ORA-27102: out of memory
SVR4 Error: 22: Invalid argument

 

Total physical memory installed on the server is greater than sum of all the SGAs.

'project.max-shm-memory' parameter is being used to control the shared memory size.

Changes

The parameter SGA_TARGET was increased, e.g.

SQL> alter system set sga_target = 4G scope=spfile;
System altered.
