Symptoms
In the HP-UX utility "kmeminfo", as the export executes, "UFC file mrg" area keeps growing until nearly exhaustion of free memory. No error is detected in alert log or in trace file pointing to Oracle memory issue.

HP 11x Tunable Kernel Parameters: filecache_max is set too low.
