Symptoms

When running DBMS_STATS.GATHER_TABLE_STATS with Parallelism, it fails with the below error:

ORA-12805: parallel query server died unexpectedly

And in the alert log, you see the error:

ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [qesaMSR2SorRecMerge()+224]
[SIGSEGV] [Address not mapped to object] [0xFFFFFFFF7883CE80] [] []

An example of the failing query gathering the statistics would be:
select /*+ parallel(t,20) parallel_index(t,20) dbms_stats cursor_sharing_exact.......

The Call Stack Trace would look something like:

qergsPAggRowP <- qertqiFetch <- qergsFetch <- qertqoFetch <-
qerpxSlaveFetch <- qerpxFetch <- opiexe <- kpoal8 <- opiodr
<- kpoodr <- upirtrc <- kpurcsc <- kpuexecv8 <- kpuexec <-
OCIStmtExecute <- kxfxsStmtExecute <- 260 <- kxfxsExecute <- kxfxsp <-
kxfxmai <- kxfprdp

The Explain Plan would also show a lot of PX operations.
