OpenVMS: CRS CRASHES WHEN RUNNING CATUPGRD.SQL AGAINST A MIGRATED DATABASE (9.2.0.8 TO 10.2.0.4) (Doc ID 986069.1)

Symptoms

While running catupgrd.sql against a newly migrated 9.2 RAC database, the Oracle 10.2 ClusterWare process ORA_HAS_OCSSD  crashed.

The catupgrd log shows an ora-3113 error.

An ocssd.dmp file was created under the ClusterWare (CRS) oracle_home in the ora_root:[log.<nodename>.cssd] directory.


The alert log showed:

Error: KGXGN aborts the instance (6)

3-NOV-2009 10:08:35.95:
Errors in file $1$DKA1:[ORACLE.DB_HOME102.ADMIN.PROD.BDUMP]ALPHA1_PROD_BG_LMON_005.TRC;:
ORA-29702: error occurred in Cluster Group Service operation



The LMON trace showed:

Changes

Attempted to run catupgrd.sql from a 10.2 oracle_home against a 9.2 migrated database. No problems were seen with the Oracle 10.2 ClusterWare processes prior to running catupgrd.sql.
