XML Publisher eText File Contains ^M (control M) at the End of Each Record After Applying Patchset ATG Rup7 (Doc ID 1088814.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 23, 2023

Applies to:

BI Publisher (formerly XML Publisher) - Version 5.6.3 to 5.6.3 [Release 5]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Oracle Applications 11.5.10.2, using XML Publisher (5.6.3) to produce an eText file from an rtf template.

After applying <Patch 6241631> 11i.ATG_PF.H.RUP7, when you view the output files in the UNIX vi editor (as opposed to a Windows based editor) all the eText files now contain a ^M marker at the end of each record in the file.

This is causing problems when sending the BACS output files to Banks for processing.

There is in the rtf template file a parameter called <NEW RECORD CHARACTER>, which is set to ‘Carriage Return’ in line with all documented examples.

When you remove this from the template, as per <Bug 9259722>, the ^M markers disappears, however, all the records in the file then appear on one line.

This was not occurring prior to ATG RUP7.

Changes

  Applied <Patch 6241631> 11i.ATG_PF.H.RUP7.
