Unable to Open "Unread Messages" in Sourcing

Symptoms
On R12, when attempting to click on a message under unread messages, the following error occurs.
Error Message:

java.lang.NullPointerException
at java.util.Hashtable.put(Hashtable.java:396)
at oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.OAPageContextImpl.putSessionValue(OAPageContextImpl.java:1433)
at oracle.apps.pon.homepages.buying.webui.BuyerHomeCO.processFormRequest(BuyerHomeCO.java:530)
at oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.OAWebBeanHelper.processFormRequest(OAWebBeanHelper.java:815)
at oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.OAWebBeanContainerHelper.processFormRequest(OAWebBeanContainerHelper.java:382)
Steps To Reproduce:
1. Log into Sourcing
2. Click on Message under - Unread Messages
3. Receive Error
OR
1. Create an RFI.
2. Add collaboration team members
3. Add a task to one of the collaboration team member.
4. Now login as the collaboration team member who only has the responsibility of Sourcing Team Member.
5. Make sure the person has the "Table Layout: (SearchTableRgn)" rendered to false at the responsibility level to hide the search region.
This needs to be done on “/oracle/apps/pon/homepages/buying/webui/ponBuyHomePG ".
6. Now click on the incomplete task on the right side of the page. ->> Receive Error.
