Purpose
Unplanned depreciation is used primarily in Europe, especially in Germany and the Netherlands, to comply with special depreciation accounting rules. However, you also can use this feature to handle unusual accounting situations in which you need to adjust the net book value and accumulated depreciation amounts for an asset without affecting its cost. Oracle Assets immediately updates the YTD and LTD depreciation and the net book value of the asset.
