Unable To Authenticate Session Error When Login to Different R12 Instance in Same IE Session (Doc ID 1159313.1)

Symptoms

Using E-Business Suite Release 12.x,
when the user is trying to login to two different instances in same browser, for the second instance login an error is generated:

Unable to authenticate session.


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Open an IE session
2. Log into E-Business Suite instance 1 using the URL http://<instance1>.<domain>:<port>/OA_HTML/AppsLocalLogin.jsp
3. Log out from instance 1
4. On the same IE session, log into E-Business Suite instance 2 using the URL: http://<instance2>.<domain>:<port>/OA_HTML/AppsLocalLogin.jsp
5. The login page did not displayed and the "Unable to authenticate session." error occurs

The same error occurs if the user access the instance http://<instance2>.<domain>:<port> before http://<instance1>.<domain>:<port>

If the user start another IE session before step 4, the issue DO NOT occur

Due to this issue, users cannot login to different e-Business suite instances using the same IE session. The users have to start another the IE session for second login.
