12.1: Purchase Order Approval Email Notification - History Does Not Display The Answer to Request Information (Doc ID 1165976.1)

Last updated on JULY 07, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Purchasing - Version 12.1.2 and later
Oracle Workflow - Version 12.0.6 to 12.0.6 [Release 12]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After providing the answer after 'Request Information' for a purchase order the email notification generated does not display the full notification history. The history only shows the question raised by the approver and does not display the answer provided by the preparer.

When the same notification is opened through the worklist the Notification History does display the answer.

This problem occurs specifically for purchase orders.

Note: The same functionality works perfectly for purchase requisitions. The email notification generated for the purchase requisition displays both the question and answer.

This issue can be reproduced as follows:
1. As preparer create a standard purchase order and submit it for approval.
2. The approver will receive a notification such as:

Action Required: Standard Purchase Order 20100008 for EUR 1,00 requires your approval.

3. As approver click on the 'Request Information' link
4. Outlook automatically opens another email with the following subject:

More Information Requested: Action Required: Standard Purchase Order 20100008 for EUR 1,00 requires your approval.

5. As approver enter the question and send the email using the send button
6. The preparer will receive an email with the question raised by the approver.
7. As preparer open the notification and click the 'Answer Question' link, provide the answer and send the email.
8. The approver receives the following notification again:

Action Required: Standard Purchase Order 20100008 for EUR 1,00 requires your approval.

9. When opening this notification the Notification History displays the Question. However, the answer is not displayed.
