The "Ship Method" is Not Populated in EBS When Creating a Shipment via MANUAL Action in OTM (Doc ID 1288102.1)

Last updated on JULY 20, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Transportation Management - Version 5.5 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A shipment is created in OTM using the "Manual" method (Actions -> Operational Planning -> Create Buy Shipment -> Manual). During this shipment creation, the Rate Offering, Service Provider and Cost are entered. After submitting this request, the confirmation page of the shipment creation shows that there is no Rate Offering defined (the Rate Offering field is empty).

When this shipment is interfaced to EBS, this Rate Offering with Transport Mode information is therefore not sent to and causing the "Ship Method" in EBS to be left empty.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
Expect that the inputted values for the manual shipment (such as the Rate Offering information) to be attached to the shipment and then interfaced as the Ship Method to EBS.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Create a manual shipment from an Order Release (Actions -> Operational Planning -> Create Buy Shipment -> Manual)
2. Populate the Rate Offering, Service Provider and Cost information on this Manual creation
3. Send the PlannedShipment information to EBS via XML integration (Actions -> Utilities -> Send Interface Transmission)
4. In EBS, search for this Shipment (i.e Trip) and observe that the Ship Method field is left empty

BUSINESS IMPACT
-----------------------
The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot use the Manual action to create shipments and this does not populate the Ship Method in EBS which is critical shipping information when processing the trips.
