Users Receiving Larger Number of Emails For Already Closed Notifications (Doc ID 1293792.1)

Symptoms

An EBS user received 900+ emails from workflow, seemingly all for two or three already closed notifications.

Changes

Several possible scenarios:

1) User's Email address domain changes when bought by another company. For example, user@companyA.com becomes user@companyB.com.

2) User's Email address changes due to a name change. For example, joe.shmoe@company.com becomes joseph.a.shmoe@company.com.

3) An email alias is deleted or changed in the mail system. For example, webmaster@company.com used to be an alias for joe.shmoe@company.com. A decision was made to simply have emails go to Joe's account directly resulted in the deletion of the alias webmaster@company.com.
