BI Publisher: BIPCatalogUtil utility fails to import objects with special characters in its name

Symptoms
On BI Publisher Enterprise version 11.1.1.5.0:
When using BIPCatalogUtil.sh utility to export objects (for example a data model) from the instance and then import it into another BI Publisher instance on same version (11.1.1.5.0), it is failing to import the objects that have special characters in it name and gives the following error.
The error above shows that the object name here is " [TEST] " which contains the special character "[" & "]"
